Howell Soccer Club Families,
Yesterday, Governor Murphy signed executive order 196, lowering the limit of outdoor gatherings to 150 persons, effective Monday, November 23, 2020. While the effective date is after our final scheduled games this weekend (i.e. this Saturday), our organization has over 350 players and approximately 1000 visitors through our park on game day.
The HSC Board of Directors does not believe it would be responsible or prudent to host this weekend’s matches for the difference of two days to the order’s effectiveness. As such, the club will move to the “red phase” of our Return-to-Play program andthe remainder of the Fall 2020 season will be cancelled.
A community organization must take responsibility in stemming the spread of COVID-19 and only provide programming if it is safe for members and those we interact with in the community. With the increasing case counts, we believe that families should not need to worry about community spread through our sport as we approach the holiday season with our loved ones.
Credits
Consistent with our refund policy, families are entitled to a prorated credit for this week’s cancellation. That credit will be issued in the amount of $9 per player within the next few days, and may be used in future seasons. Families that were signed-up to volunteer this weekend will have their deposit check destroyed. If you would like the check mailed back, please contact[email protected].
Trophies/Awards
Awards were provided last weekend to the team coach. If a player was unable to attend last week’s match, please contact the coach first to see if they have the award. As a next step, parents may contact[email protected] to schedule a pick-up time.
Spring 2021 Season
We do not anticipate that this executive order will impact the Spring 2021 season. Parents are encouraged toregister now to secure a spot! In a change to our program, the volunteer deposit is no longer required for Spring 2021 and no time commitment is needed from parents – just show up and play!
