Howell Soccer Club (HSC) is a non-profit volunteer organization. Approximately 20 volunteers work hundreds of hours each week for over 800+ children.
We welcome you and your talents! There is plenty to do. While we are always in need of coaches, there is much more going on behind the scenes to make HSC a fun time for your kids. Many of you have organizational, bookkeeping or administrative skills that are sorely needed. All of us know how to use a phone or have computer skills or perhaps you just want to get out of the house on Saturday morning for some peace and quiet. Lining the fields at 7:00 A.M. is tranquil and mindless. Literally a walk in the park! These skills are what make HSC tick.
When you register a $30 volunteer deposit will be collected (via check or money order) and then be refunded when you complete participation in the Mandatory Parent Participation Program or, in other words, simply volunteer for one of the many activities available.
WE NEED YOUR HELP! There is a spot for everyone. For more information or to volunteer, please give us a call at 732-919-7788 (mailbox 7), check for the volunteer sign-up sheet located at the snack stand, or send an email to: volunteers@howellsoccerclub.com.
Below are current volunteer positions available, but always keep an eye out at the snack stand for additional requests for volunteers throughout the season for help on an as-needed basis:
- COMMISSIONERS: Supervise Saturday games, meet with coaches, resolve schedule conflicts, divide players into teams, communicate to/from Board to/from coaches and parents.
- FIELD PREP: Re-stripe fields 1 Saturday a season for 1 hour. If you like, please join us as many times as you wish, but 1 is required. NOTE: If you are scheduled for field duty, you are required to arrive for your scheduled duty, rain or shine
- COACH: Ensures ALL players are having FUN! Must get an F License from the state before the beginning of your 2nd season. Organize/schedule practices, responsible for the safety of players, ensures all players are taught age appropriate skills, enlists the help of parents when needed, works closely with team parent, communicates with HSC through commissioner, attends all meetings and involves parents in his/her coaching philosophy and encourages positive reinforcement for players.
- ASSISTANT COACH: Assists Coach with responsibilities as needed. Reinforces the coach's positive example. Fills in as Coach when the Coach is not able to be present. Must get an F License.
- ACTIVITIES COMMITTEE: From time to time special activities arise that strain those that are always here for HSC and your children. Standing committees are Hot Dog Day and Round Robin Day. These activities require hours of preparation and staffing that can interfere with the normal operation of HSC. These activities are designed for the enjoyment and support of you and your children.
- ADMINISTRATIVE:
Other volunteer activities include delivering Registration
Information Flyers to local schools as well as assisting with equipment
inventory.
