Spring 2024 Welcome Information

Thank you for registering for the Spring 2024 season with Howell Soccer Club! Opening day is set for Saturday, April 13th – about one month away. Our preparations are underway to kick-off the season! This update shares key updates that you should be aware of prior to the season:

  1. Team Assignments: We plan to release the team assignments around April 1st. We do our best to honor requests; however, it may not be possible to honor every request as teams are structured to balance grade, age, roster size, and skill. For example, there may be 20 players that requested to be on the same team; however, the roster can only handle 12 players – making it impossible to honor every request. Friendly reminder that there are no refunds if a request cannot be honored.
  2. Game Schedules: Tentative game schedules have been created and will be released shortly after team assignments are released (and the total number of teams in each age group are decided). When the schedule is released, please contact your coach directly if you are unable to attend a game due to other commitments.
  3. Practices (1st grade through 8th grade): Coaches will communicate practice times closer to the start of the season. All practices will be held at Oak Glen Park during the week. Note that we have no way of knowing practice times in advance of assigning you a team, so we cannot take requests for team assignments based on practices. Be sure to write your child's name on your equipment (soccer balls, bags, etc.) to avoid lost items.
  4. Uniforms: Each player will receive a game jersey that is worn on game day and a pair of black soccer socks. Please make sure that you player has shin-guards that can be worn under the sock, along with soccer cleats (non-metal) – sneakers are okay for Pre-K & K! Friendly reminder that all jewelry (especially earrings) will need to be removed to participate…we recommend no new piercings until after soccer season in June.
  5. Game Day Information: Parking is not permitted near fire hydrants or in front of "no parking signs" on Preventorium Road. HSC does not operate a concession stands, just bathroom facilities – so be sure to bring water!
  6. Weather: Rainout information will be communicated by 8am on game day if needed. We can play in the rain – so this decision is based on field conditions, thunderstorm protocol and member safety. Please comply with club personnel in the event of inclement weather.
  7. Health & Safety: We are always aware of player health and safety and remind members to do their part. Practice health and safety protocols, do not come to the games/practices if your child is sick or injured.
  8. High School Division Update: This spring, HSC is piloting the return of a high-school division in a 'traveling' recreation league by the name of "3M". We are hosting one 10th-12th grade team that will play in recreation level matches in towns across Monmouth, Middlesex, and Mercer counties. The registration for this pilot is full for the Spring - however, we share the exciting update with the aim of offering 3M teams at younger age groups in the future.

We look forward to an awesome season and will communicate further updates as registration comes to a close in the next few days! Please contact communications@howellsoccerclub.com with any questions in the interim.
